Day 1 of Gohan’s training has arrived, as noted by the title of the episode. Gohan is good kid and he took off his extra gear and folded up nicely o the ground. Piccolo says the first thing he needs to learn how to do is learn how to take care of himself and challenges his to survive for 6 months out there by himself before he will train him to fight. This is horrible parenting; Piccolo should never have kids. Gohan rightfully is afraid and says he should not be left alone. Piccolo says he already has everything he eneds to survive. Uh.. no food or water Piccolo, you are horrible at this. Piccolo is going to train on his own for six months I guess and fly’s off to leave Gohan all alone in the middle of nowhere.
Kame is watching all this from on high and we get to Meet Mr. Popo for the first time. Kame says he can feel a change coming over Piccolos heart that he will now be a good guy. Every decision Piccolo has made so far in the series has been for the good of Earth. Mr. Popo says this makes no sense but Kame says they both realize that the Saiyan threat is too harsh and they will both die in one year because Piccolo and Kame are two halves of the same being. Piccolo probably can see into Kame’s mind and knows that he is going to die, thus the training of Gohan.
Now we get to see poor Gohan stuck out in the middle of nowhere. His first challenge is the wind blowing away his shirt us ona small cliff and he climbs up to retrieve it. A snake appears form the shirt, Chi Chi was right about these snakes, but the snake just leaves him alone. Gohan has more confidence in his voice after this first challenge is complete and then he starts talking to a lizard.
When Goku started on Snake way he was flying and now for some reason he says he can’t fly. So, he decides to try jumping. It does not take long before he falls off and these weird ghost hands try to drag him under the clouds. He somehow gets out of it and starts running down snake way again.
Krillin arrives all dapper looking at Chi Chi’s house and is practicing telling her the bad news. He is rightly afraid. Chi Chi opens the door and is happy to see Krillin. The Ox King is still there hanging out and Chi Chi notices that Krillin is acting strange. Krillin lies about where Goku is and cannot really get it out. The OX King has quite a few toys for Gohan and is super excited to see him. This further scares Krillin from telling the truth. He makes up some lie about them being on Master Roshi’s boat. Chi Chi did not now that Master Roshi had a boat, I mean he lives on an island, I would hope that he owns a boat. Krillin tries to leave but they force him to stay for dinner.
Gohan’s second challenge has arrived and it is a freaking dinosaur. Krillin has to get angry just before the dinosaur is about to eat him and when it takes a bite Gohan idssapears and some weird sounds are made. It appears Gohan teleported to the top of a giant cliff. I am pretty sure Goku learned this teleport technique from King Kai, pretty cool that Gohan just did it out of desperation.
Chi Chi has made dinner now and Krillin is having an awkward dinner with them. For some reason we are in the after life and Frankenstein is there ordering a hamburger. The guide to the snake way is there telling some witch to tell Master Roshi not to wish him back for one year like Goku asked.
Like father like son, Goku is starving on the snake way and Gohan is hungry on top of the cliff. Gohan says he is hungry and magically apples just appear. He takes a bite and fins out how sour they are. The camera pans up to show Piccolo did indeed show some mercy. The apples suck and Gohan craves his mom cooking. Piccolo is watching from not far away, Gohan is too busy with the apples to see him though. He looks at the height of the cliff and decides he is going to lay down. Piccolo talks to himself and swears that he will not help Gohan again. How did Piccolo teleport the apples anyways?
