First thing I noticed about the episode was the title screen. I do not remember this title screen at all. I mean look at that Dragon, pretty goofy.

Basically 5 years has passes since Piccolo has been defeated and Earth has been at peace for all this time. Now a new looming threat is on the way and the peacefulness of Earth will end.

So what is Goku doing? Punching trees down for firewood. Chi Chi thinks that he will get hurt one day doing that but little does she know that trees are the least of Goku’s worries

Then BOOM! A spaceship falls out of the sky in to a mans farm and we get out very first look of Raditz. I was always liked Raditz. I think he gets a bad rap because he was the first villain defeated, but would even have super saiyan 3 hair styles if it wasn’t for him. Also, if you think about it, it took the full power of Goku and Piccollo to defeat him, as well as Goku sacrificing his life. Seems like a pretty credible threat to me. We also get our first power level reading! The poor farmer only has a power level of 5!. Raditz uses his power level detector to discern that a high level of power is nearby (it must be Goku), and leaves to confront him.

We get our first look at Gohan next! That is what this site is all about. We can’t be called truegohan with out appreciating his first look! He even has a dragon ball attached to his hat, the four star to be precise, nice to see that we start off getting to remember what this show is all about. He is crying for his daddy but quickly gets distracted by a butterfly he wants to talk to, this is truly Goku’s son. The butterfly flew up a tree, some weird things going on with trees in this episode. Gohan wants to climb the tree to hang with the butterfly but that is not happening, so he asks if there is an elevator on it. Yep, this is Goku’s son. Then out of the bushes pops a sabretooth tiger, who promptly steals the hat. A chase ensues and Gohan gets lost in the process it seems, once again crying for his father. His crying gets distracted once again by a bird this time, did I mention that its no surprise this is Goku’s son?

Goku is wondering around the forest looking for Gohan when he comes across a sabretooth tiger wearing his sons hat. Doesn’t take but a few stern words from Goku to retrieve the hat as the cat runs away scared. Goku boards the nimbus cloud and searches from above to find Gohan rushing down a river holding down to a log to keep from drowning. Why are they letting this kid roam the forest alone? Goku has never been accused of good parenting. Drama ensues, and Gohan shows his first semblance of true power as he somehow ends up a good distance above a waterfall instead of below it. Goku returns his hat.

Turns out Raditz was wrong about the high power level reading because he found Piccolo instead. We get another power level reading! Piccolo is power level 322, Raditz quickly determines this is insufficient to fight him. Picollo hits him with a ki blast but it only singe’s Ratiz leg hair. Raditz is about to show us our first named move of the series called the Double Sunday, but he gets distracted by another power level higher and promptly leaves.

The episode ends as Raditz is search for Goku using the scouter and mulls over why Goku has not completed his mission of destroying Earth. Not much action in this episode but we have a villain and we have our heroes, the plot is setup, so the action will come soon!
