Just judging by the title of the episode we might be seeing some named moves today! With all the weighted gear off Raditz stated that both Piccolo and Goku’s power levels are close to equal, so that is close to the 410 and 400 assumption that we made on the last episode. Before they get to fighting Goku must know where Gohan is and he is told by Raditz that Gohan is locked in the space pod. Goku promises to come help Gohan as soon as he is done with Raditz but Raditz disagrees.
There is a definite cowboy stand off to the way the next minute goes down, even the music, until both Goku and Piccolo finally attack Raditz unleashing a flurry of movies that are very easily defended by using some very widespread kicks and arm movements. It’s about time we had some action.
A couple of ki blasts dropped them both and actually cut off Piccolos arm. Raditz finds this hilarious . He says “Has anyone seen my arm? You cant miss it, its green!” Then we flash over to Krillin, Bulma, and Master Roshi flying around in one of Bulmas weird spaceship just wishing good luck for Goku and Piccolo to win.
Piccolo asks Goku to use any new Techniques but Goku does not have any. So, Piccolo says he has one and he needs five minutes of time to gather energy for the attack, doesn’t seem like the most efficient attack. He was planning on using it. So Goku has to stall Raditz for five minutes so Piccolo can gather the energy. Now this seems odd, any other time in dragon ball z you just tell him hey I am going to show you my new attack and everyone just waits for you to gather the energy.
During the stalling we get some power level readings! Goku performs KameHameHa and it raises his power level up to 900 then 950 by focusing all his power to a single point. Meanwhile Piccolos charging has him over 1000 and rising. I believe this is our first appearance fo KameHameHa in DBZ. Piccolo finally gets his move charged up and Raditz is surprised to see that his power level is now 1330, which apparently is something he cannot block. Special Beam Cannon is unleashed and creates a huge blast, but Raditz dodged it, barely, he lost a shoulder pad in the process. Interestingly Piccolo notes that the only way Raditz could dodge it is because he is faster than the speed of light. That is nuts, idk what Radtiz’s power level is but faster than the speed of light already is unbelievable. DBZ characters are so overpowered.
Note: I am creating a notes post for season 1 that will show all the named moves and Power Level Readings. Raditz goes to perform the Double Sunday move on Piccolo, kind of a stupid name, but Goku stops it all by grabbing his tail tight. He has him writing on the ground and Radtiz turns into a groveling little punk. He begs for his life with lies and gets Goku to let him go, which immediately repays with an elbow to a face. Goku gave in to quickly. I said before that Raditz always gets a bad rap but I didn’t like him in his groveling mode, bringing up that he is Gokus brother and saying he was never going to kill him was cheap move, shame on Goku for believing it. Raditz is stomping all over Gokus chest and poor little Gohan is stuck in the spaceship listening to it all.
For some reason it flashes over to Chi Chi cooking rice and looking at Gohan test scores, guess we need a break from the action. Now Raditz wants Goku to beg. Really? After you just begged. He has to stop what he is doing because his scouter goes nuts. BOOM. Gohan has had enough! He busts out the capsule like bad ass… and the episode ends. On a good note, we are bout to see some of the True Gohan power!
